A 45-year-old man from Savoi-Verem succumbed to injuries while two others were injured after a milk delivery rickshaw hit two two-wheelers at Betki-Khandola on Monday.
According to reports, the incident took place as Naresh Naik was proceeding to Bicholim. A rickshaw delivering milk to the shops reportedly proceeded on a wrong lane and collided with a two-wheeler before knocking another vehicle.
Naik, who was on one two-wheeler, sustained serious injuries and he was moved to the Betki PHC and then to the Goa Medical College and hospital, Bambolim, where he breathed his last.
The other rider, Samir Sakhalkar, fractured his hand while his pillion rider, Aparna Naik, sustained minor injuries.
Incidentally, Naresh was the younger brother of Nilesh Naik who had died protesting against the Nylon 66 project in Keri many years ago.
He is survived by his wife, their 5-year old daughter, 2 brothers and a married sister.
Ponda police have arrested the rickshaw driver Santosh Gavkar Nirankaal in this connection and PSI Mahesh Gawas is investigating the case.
