Sheilesh Shetty and Khaiyyad Sheikh has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody while a court has extended the remand of the five other accused in connection with the murder of social activist Vilas Methar, who was set ablaze on October 14.
The five other accused who have been remanded to five days in police custody are Santosh Pillai, Altaf Yargatti, Pawan Badigeri, Prashant Dabholkar and Ikbal Nanpuri.
Porvorim police had arrested the seven accused after Methar was set ablaze on October 14 and succumbed to injuries the next day.
Porvorim police said investigations in the case are not been completed as yet and hence, they had requested court to grant further remand of the accused.
Police sources said Methar was involved in a dispute with a building in connection with a construction and a conspiracy was hatched to murder him.
Shailesh Shetty was arrested after a car, registered in his name, was seized from the possession of two accused, Prashant Dabholkar and Pavan Badiger.
Though, Shetty claimed he had sold his car to Dabholkar, he could not produce documents to prove his claim, police sources said.
