Ports Minister Michael Lobo on Monday said a message should go to the world that Goa was ready for the tourism season and the State was safe for tourists, especially the foreign tourists.
“We want to tell the world that Goa has started tourism activity after the pandemic. We want the tourists to come and enjoy in this beautiful State of Goa,” Lobo said.
The Ports Minister was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the ‘smart street’ along the Tito’s lane in Baga, Calangute.
A leading charter operator in Goa and President of Skal International, Goa, Earnest Dias said a lot can be done in the tourism sector but there was disappointment as things were not happening the way it needed to. “Goa sees a lot of domestic tourists but Goa also needs international tourists. Unfortunately, that’s not happening because there’s not much push from the Goa government. We have approached the CM and the tourism minister and if they can push MHA and home ministry, we could have bubble flights to Goa,” Dias said.
“We could have flights coming at least from Russia as Russians are ready to travel and would love to come to Goa,” he added.
He said the Chief Minister should speak to people concerned to make an announcement that Goa will be opened to international travel from December.
“So that bookings can start and we can start selling Goa,” Dias said.
