Hrudaynath Shirodkar of Progressive Front of Goa (PFG) launched heavy criticism on Goa Congress while pointing out that the newly appointed Congress Goa Desk in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao had actively participated in Mhadei protest against Goa some time ago.
Speaking to the media, Shirodkar lashed out stating, “In Karnataka every political party is fighting together to divert Mhadei water to Malaprabha basin. We have been trying to bring all parties in Goa together for saving Mhadei water. But Goa Congress new desk in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao, who is a Congress MLA from Bengaluru and who has staged a protest in Bengaluru for diversion of Mhadei, came to Goa and said that every state has the right to fight for their right. If that is so, and if you support the diversion of our river then how dare you come to Goa?”
PFG has called upon Dinesh Gundu Rao or Goa Pradesh Congress Committee to clarify the stand of Goa Congress on the subject.
“Everybody knows that the BJP is out to sell Mhadei to Karnataka. If the BJP continues in Goa and at the Centre, we should assume that we will lose Mhadei. If the Congress leader thinks that every state has the right to fight then he should go to Karnataka and fight. Don’t dare to come to Goa again. We warn him that if he comes to Goa again, we will treat him worse than how we treat Union Minister Prakash Javadekar,” Shirodkar warned.
PFG has cautioned Goans that BJP and Congress are both planning to stifle protests and divert Mhadei water. The group has also urged the Aam Aadmi Party to clear its stand on the subject once and for all.
