South Goa district police made their contribution to the environment on World Environment Day by planting saplings of local varieties at every police station, police outpost and police quarters.
District Police Chief, SP Pankaj Kumar Singh informed that World Environment Day is being elebrated across the world on June 5 every year to create awareness and to remind everyone to preserve the rich biodiversity of our planet.
This year’s theme for World Environment day labelled as “Reimagine, recreate & restore” asks us to reimagine our ways and take necessary steps to limit climate change and restore our environment.
He said the men-in-uniform from the South Goa district made their contribution in their own way by planting of saplings of local varieties at every police station, police outpost and police quarters.
“Our generation must make peace with nature. We have to reverse climate change and each one must do his part. Even a small step such as refusing to use plastic bags can go a long way”, he said, while saying “I would like to encourage every person to renew their bond with nature, by planting trees and taking environmentally sound decisions”.
