OLD GOA
The management, staff and a PTA representative Suraj Lamgaonkar of St Xavier’s Academy at Old Goa participated in the Fit India movement, a nationwide campaign for healthy living.
The principal Sr Monica Coelho sfn initiated and motivated the entire staff, teaching and non-teaching, to participate in the 5 km walk/run on March 20, with an aim to make fitness an integral part of life.
The walk/run began at the Academy and went up to Gandhi Circle, Old Goa and back. A brief introduction was given by Sr Coelho, while P E teacher Abhay Gaonkar stressed on the importance of physical well-being and the need for regular exercise to keep oneself physically fit in order to maintain healthy lifestyle.
Later, Fr Maverick Fernandes, the school manager and Director of Caritas Goa, appreciated the efforts of the principal for initiating and organising the event.The Old Goa police station deputed police personnel to maintain the traffic during the event.
