The port town is set to get a grand Balu Mama temple, with Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar assuring that the temple will hopefully be ready before the next Balu Mama Jayanti. The assurance came recently as hundreds of devotees participated in the Balu Mama Kalash Yatra to commemorate Balu Mama Jayanti. Salkar said the number of Balu Mama devotees had increased manifold in Goa, particularly in Vasco, and the proposed temple would make it easier for devotees to offer prayers without travelling to Maharashtra.
“Not everyone from Goa can travel to the main Balu Mama temple in Maharashtra. A grand temple in Vasco will give our devotees an opportunity to offer prayers and seek blessings here itself,” Salkar said. He expressed hope that the temple would be completed before the next Balu Mama Jayanti, allowing devotees to celebrate the occasion at the new temple.
