Anjuna Police arrested a West Bengal native for illegally possessing 1,734 grams of suspected narcotic drug ganja worth Rs 1.8 lakh.
The accused Sukumar Amal Mahanta (27) has been presently residing at Morjim.
Anjuna PI and LPSI Sneha Sawal conducted a raid on Saturday near a chapel at Baga creek in Baga, Calangute wherein the accused was intercepted.
During a personal search the consignment was found in his possession.
Mapsua SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi informed that the accused has been placed under arrest under sections 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act.
Further investigation is in progress.
