PANAJI
A project ‘Jivika’ has been launched in Bicholim to empower the local women by Vedanta Ltd in collaboration with NGO Vanarai. The project will focus on household level income generation activities. The project specifically aims at empowering women by providing them entrepreneurial know-how and building capacities to run successful enterprises. The project has been rolled out with the aim of augmenting incomes for over 500 households across five villages. Workshops on market and bank linkages, product branding, marketing strategies, and government schemes will be conducted prior to providing support to women desirous of setting up enterprises. The Vanarai team's project expert conducted the training, showcasing the potential of vertical sack gardens which aims to provide households with a sustainable source of fresh, clean vegetables, requiring minimal effort. ‘Jivika’ promotes accessibility to organically grown vegetables and emphasises sustainability, free from chemical fertilisers, fostering healthier dietary choices. Under the project 20 vertical sack gardens in Pilgao, Mulgao, Mayem, Sirigao, and Bicholim will be established over the next two months.
