VM Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar (VMSCL) inaugurated the 10th Edition of its international dispute resolution competition, Lex Infinitum, on January 16, at the college Conference Hall. Dharmendra Sharma, IAS (Retd), Chairperson of the Goa Real-estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), was the Chief Guest. In his address, Sharma elaborated about his knowledge regarding the persuasive and coercive mediation techniques, citing experiences from his past and emphasizing the importance of the former and volunteering to come within its domain. Dr Shaber Ali G, Principal of VMSCL; Anthony E. Barretto, Company Secretary of V. M. Salgaocar Corporation Pvt. Ltd; Dr Shruti Kamat Dalal, Director of Lex Infinitum; Omkar S. Gaonkar, President of Lex Infinitum; and Tashina Zahra Pinto do Rosario, Vice-President of Lex Infinitum attended. Welcoming the participants, Dr Shaber Ali, appraised the audience about the nature of mediation. This year, Lex Infinitum has attracted 22 negotiating teams and 12 mediators from around the globe, including National University of Singapore (NUS), Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT) Sri Lanka, National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) Hyderabad.
