Amona VP extends support to Vedanta's plant expansion

The Village Panchayat of Amona has urged environmentalists not to protest against the Vedanta's plant expansion in Amona. Vedanta plant expansion will create jobs for villagers of Amona and Navelim. Many villagers are already working at Vedanta's plant, the panchayat said in a press release.

Vedanta company has supported Amona villagers with CSR initiatives in areas of healthcare, education, women empowerment, agriculture, agriculture and dairy farming, skill development for youth, infrastructure development, water and sanitation. Through its 'Back to Farming' initiative, the company is helping farmers with fertilisers, seeds and farming equipment, says a press release.

On the issue of graphite and dust pollution, the company has taken certain initiatives and has installed certain dust extraction systems for controlling graphite emissions. The Amona VP also wants the company to take further steps on air pollution control and ensure there are lesser emissions.
