The body of a labourer employed at a nearby construction site was found floating in the Vaddem pond on Tuesday. Locals alerted the police and the fire services retrieved the body form the pond.
The deceased was identified as Maga Palan (25), a labourer at a nearby construction site in Vaddem. He hailed from Bihar but was living in Baina.
The site contractor that the labourer was unwell and went missing since Sunday evening.
"He was working on our construction site and had not arrived to work since Sunday after stating he was unwell. Since he had not reported to work, we had begun looking for him since the last two days and we had hoped to find him, hence did not file a missing complaint," said the contractor.
