"Veteran tiatr artiste John Claro Fernandes is an inspiration to the present day tiatrists because even at the age of 90 years he has documented the contribution of the stalwarts of the tiatr stage in a book form," expressed Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, MLA of Curtorim. He was speaking after releasing John Claro Fernandes’ book “Stalwarts Of The Tiatr Stage” on October 25, at Chandor.
Speaking further he highlighted the contribution of John Claro in preserving and promoting the Goan Tiatr during the last 67 years and thanked him for preserving the culture of Goa for posterity.
John Claro Fernandes, the author of the book, in his brief address disclosed that he started writing about Tiatr and the artistes in English because he wanted to bring to the notice of some Goans, who did not give any importance to the same, about its significance in the Goan culture.
It is because of his and many others’ documentation of tiatr in English, deserved recognition was given to Tiatr and Tiatr artistes since college and university students started researching tiatr and even obtained PhDs, he said in his conclusion.
