Penha de Franca Panch Shamsunder Kamat was felicitated by the Rotary Club of Porvorim in recognition of his social work during the Covid-19 pandemic.
District Governor of Rotary Club Sangam Patil presented a certificate of appreciation to Kamat at a function in the Smt Sunanabai Bandodkar High School at Saloi.
Speaking on this occasion, Patil said during the lockdown, Kamat had worked relentlessly and distributed essential food items, medicine, masks and sanitisers to senior citizens, poor and needy sections of society free of cost.
“He never indulged the politics and provided service to every segment of society. While rendering social work, he was infected with Coronavirus. After getting cured, he resumed his social work. He is a true Covid warrior,” said Patil.
Businessman Subhash Sajane said Kamat deserved to be felicitated for his social work during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially during the lockdown period.
“He went out from day one during the lockdown period and supplied milk, grocery items, vegetables, to senior citizens as well as needy people using his car,” said Sajane.
President of Rotary Club Porvorim Ramesh Tiwari and Neeta Salunke also spoke at the function.
On the occasion, disposable sanitary pads were distributed to girls of Smt Sunanadbai Bandodkar High School.
