Veteran cartoonist Alexyz (Alex Fernandes) will be interacting in ‘Behind The Byline’, know your GUJ member series, on January 17 at 4 pm at GUJ hall in Shram Shakti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji. Alexyz will be in conversation with Misha Marie Britto, joint news editor at The Times of India. With an illustrious career spanning over five decades, Alexyz has over 40,000 cartoons to his credit. Alexyz started his cartooning journey in the early 80s and worked as a cartoonist for several dailies and publications in Mumbai, which includes The Times of India, Illustrated Weekly, Femina, Evening News, Reader's Digest, Indian Express, Eve's Weekly, The Daily, Mid-Day, etc. While in Goa, Alexyz has worked for several publications as a staff cartoonist including Goa Monitor, West Coast Times, Goa Today, Goan Weekly, Herald, The Navhind Times, Gomantak Times, Weekender and The Times of India. Apart from cartooning, Alexyz has also written articles for publications in Goa. ‘Behind The Byline’, know your GUJ member is a monthly series initiated by the Goa Union of Journalists, where a senior GUJ member of repute is introduced to its members. Alexyz will speak about his journey and the fast-evolving media landscape.
