The State government has enhanced the lump sum ex-gratia payable to soldiers killed in international enemy battle or in skirmishes with militants or insurgents to Rs 25 lakh. A notification issued by the Home Department also raised the ex-gratia payable to soldiers suffering permanent disability during enemy action or again in skirmishes with militants and insurgents to Rs 7.5 lakhs. Also, in case of death of soldiers occurring due to accidents in the course of performance of duties attributable to military service, the family will get Rs 20 lakh and for disability due to such incidents the soldier will get Rs 5 lakhs, the notification said. However, the ex-gratia amount from all counts cannot exceed Rs 25 lakhs to a single soldier's family, it adds.
