Over 100 children from Konsesav Balgram embarked on a fascinating journey through space at ‘Cosmic Quest’, an astronomy outreach program organized by the Education Outreach Committee (SES-REC), Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan and Swachh Bharat Student Internship (SBSI), Goa University.
The event provided children with a rare opportunity to observe celestial bodies, including the Moon and planets, through high-powered telescopes, igniting their curiosity about space science. Dr Reshma Raut Dessai, who led the initiative, not only guided the children through their first stargazing experience but also engaged them in an interactive discussion, answering their thought-provoking questions on space, black holes, and the ozone layer. The event was made possible with the support of Fr Agnelo Gomes, Director of Konsesav Balgram, who welcomed the initiative and emphasized its impact on the children. Peter F Borges, Dr Sunil Francis, and Fr Vicky Hilario (Manager, Konsesav Balgram) coordinated the programme to ensure an enriching and seamless experience for all participants.
