The Penha de Franca panchayat said a fish stall constructed at Malim was illegal and would have to be demolished.
Sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar, local panch Gabriel Vaz, Panchayat Secretary Vipin Korgaonkar and office bearers of Mandovi Fishermen Marketing Cooperative Society conducted a site inspection of the fish stall, while a police team was present to ensure law and order.
Later speaking to media persons, Chodankar said the Mandovi Fishermen Marketing Cooperative Society had filed a complaint with the panchayat stating that a woman had constructed a fish stall at Malim to sell fish.
“The woman had applied to the panchayat seeking permission to sell fish in the stall constructed by her. The panchayat decided to conduct a site inspection and it was revealed that the fish stall constructed at Malim to sell fish is illegal.”
“The panchayat will serve notice to the woman to demolish her fish stall. The panchayat is against illegal constructions and will take action against such illegal structures,” said Chodankar.
