Free physiotherapy centre for homeless opens today

PANAJI

Street Providence Trust, an NGO working in Goa for the homeless, disabled and deserted, sick people, is opening a free physiotherapy centre for these persons on August 22 at Sangolda in Porvorim. “The centre would be housed in a 150 sq mt, airconditioned hall with two full time physiotherapists who will offer free treatment to men and women, separately. The physiotherapy sessions will be conducted in the morning and evening, while the other services by orthopaedic expert, general practitioner, psychiatrist, counsellor, and paediatrician, will be offered on appointment,” said Donald Fernandes, founder, Street Providence. The alcoholic who are sheltered at our homes need physiotherapy to walk and hence we have initiated this free facility for those living in our shelter homes in North Goa, as well as even for those who cannot afford these treatments, stated Fernandes. Street Providence has five shelter homes at one each at Calangute, Porvorim, and Assnora and two at Girim where all together around 90 men and women live. The newly opened physiotherapy centre will cater to the needs of these inmates.
