Intensive ticket checking drives makes Konkan Railway richer by Rs 2.37 cr

Konkan Railway has become richer by Rs 2.37 crore by conducting intensive ticket checking drives on its routes to curb ticketless travel and ensure smooth travel for authorized passengers. From the beginning of the financial year 2025“26 till date, 3,765 ticket checking drives have been conducted. During these drives, 40,602 cases of unauthorized / irregular travellers were detected and penalized, resulting in Rs 2,37,11,161 through fines. With the upcoming Ganpati Festival, passengers traveling on the KR route is expected to increase significantly. Konkan Railway has appealed to all passengers to travel with valid tickets, so as to avoid any inconvenience. KRCL will continue to conduct intensified ticket checking drives across its entire route, especially during this festive season, to ensure safe and comfortable travel for all authorized passengers.

Labourer drowns after falling into open well at Assagao

MAPUSAA 54-year-old labourer drowned after accidentally falling into a deep well at Munang-vaddo, Assagao on Thursday. The deceased, Chakali Balaraj, a native of Telangana, was reportedly cutting grass near the well when he slipped and fell in. The well lacked basic protective measures such as a retaining wall, fencing or a net cover, making the spot unsafe. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are conducting further inquiries.
