"On behalf of all the people of Goa, I remember the martyrs of Kargil war and pay tribute to them. Today, Kargil Vijay day is celebrated in the entire nation. We should always have patriotism in us. This is the great opportunity for Goans to express our love towards our nation by getting inspired by them and try to join the navy or air forces of the nation," said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. He was speaking at the function organised by All Goa Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association on the occasion of 22nd Kargil Vijay Day at Azad Maidan, Panaji.
Rohit Monserrate, Mayor of Panaji, Vasant Agshikar, Deputy Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Sadanand shet Tanavade, Chairman, EDC, Major Venugopal Nair, Anant Joshi, President of All Goa Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association, officials WHO participated in the Kargil war, members of the Rotary Club of Miramar, Rotary club of Porvorim and other dignitaries were present at the function. Major Venugopal Nair enlightened the gathering with what actually happened in the Kargil War. All Goa Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association held essay writing competitions on different subjects for School students from 8th to 10th students, winners of which were felicitated at the hands of the Chief Minister.
