Konkani book 'Shadaj' released at Keri

Singer Rupesh Gawas's book 'Shadaj' highlighting various personalities in the music field was released recently at Vivekanand Vidyamandir Hall at Keri-Sattari at the hands of author's mother Chandravati Gawas and grandmother Subhadra Gawas. Goan Varta editor Pandurang Gaonkar was present on this occasion. The book has received a grant from the department of Art and Culture. “Rupesh Gawas has been singing as well as writing for the past few years and this book will add valuable inputs to Konkani literature,” stated Dr Prakash Paryekar. “It is a compilation of my writings of four years,” said the author, adding, "The book was printed four years ago, but the publication is being held now.” The programme began with a prayer song by Swara Gawas. The principal of the Vivekanand Vidyamandir Gopinath Gawas compered the event.
