An inter-state container lorry coming from Karnataka rammed into a car and scooter parked on a roadside at Polem late Tuesday evening.
According to sources, the container lorry (MH-45 AF7333) entering Goa through Polem border checkpost was proceeding towards Margao, just a kilometre into Goa strayed to its left to avoid an oncoming vehicle, and hit a parked Swift Car (GA-10 A2707) and an Activa Scooter (GA-08 AK 6170), both parked on the roadside near Milan Bar, Polem.
However, scooter rider who had stepped down from his parked scooter had a lucky escape as he entered the adjoining restaurant. Due to the hit, the parked car got badly damaged and was flown some metres away, while the scooter fell down on the road. According to sources, police later conducted the panchanama.
