CM needs to look into alleged recruitment scam

Recently the Congress Party has alleged a scam in the recruitment process of the posts of legal metrology inspector. The party has demanded the government to scrap these posts and also to sack Minister for Legal Metrology Filipe Neri Rodrigues. Over the years, politicians in power have been preparing a list of candidates of their choice for filling up the concerned vacant posts in various government departments. The necessary pre-requisites required for the said posts are often found lacking amongst the candidates who secure a place during the final selection in the recruitment process.

This means talented candidates have no value and are prevented from securing a government job. The Goa Staff Selection Commission introduced by the state government for the appointment of efficient candidates for the existing vacant posts has remained only on paper. No effort has been made whatsoever to introduce recruitment through this authority. With the Assembly elections approaching, filling of the vacant posts is bound to worsen further. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should not overlook this matter and try his level best to see to it that talented candidates secure justice during the recruitment process.
