In a late-night operation on Wednesday, Vasco police in a joint operation with Kerala police apprehended Maulali Shaikh of Railway Quarters in Mangor Hill, Vasco in connection with a crime in Kerala. Vasco PI Kapil Nayak said the accused was involved in a crime reported at Aluwa Police station in Ernakulam. "A case had been registered there under Sections 170, 419, 342, 380, 201 read with 34 IPC on June 5. The accused along with five others posed as an income tax officer and looted a person to the tune of Rs 1.8 lakh in cash and 400 grams in gold. Kerala police have taken the accused to Kerala for further investigation," said Nayak.
