MARGAO: Margao Sports Club blanked Peddem Bomm Sports Club 3-0 to move to the quarter-finals of the Nerul Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament, organised by Nerul Sports Club, played on Nerul Sports Club ground.
The match started with an attack from both the teams. In the seventh minute, Frezar Miranda missed a one-on-one goal opportunity by shooting above the goal post. Cliff Barreto gave a through ball to Frezar Miranda but missed to take the lead for Margao SC. In the 10th minute, an unexpected shot from Velton D'Souza beat the goalkeeper of Peddem Bomm to give the lead to Margao SC. Frezar Miranda's shot from outside the penalty area missed the frame. In the 30th minute, Frezar Miranda got a volley through a cross but missed to score.
In the second half, Frezar Miranda's header added one more goal to Margao SC.
Frezar Miranda scored his brace by beating the Peddem Bomm goalkeeper in a one-to-one situation. Saiesh Govekar's shot from inside the penalty area missed a goal in the 58th minute. Peddem Bomm tried hard to score but Margao SC defenders were strong enough.
