MARGAO: Varca Sports Club edged out Sao Jose de Areal 6-5 via the tie-breaker to enter the quarter-finals of 15th Davorlim Cup organised by Sporting Club Davorlim, at Davorlim Panchayat ground, on Wednesday.
In a nail biting contest Varca Sports Club and Sao Jose De Areal played an end to end game and remained 1-1 draw till the final whistle.
Francisco of Varca gave the lead to his team in the first session of play while Rayman Fernandes of Sao Jose de Areal equalised in the second session and made the way for a penalty shoot-out.
In resultant tie-breaker, Varca Sports Club proved to be better shooters.
Ambros Miranda gave man of the match award to Francisco of Varca SC for his outstanding performance.
