Naval officer, his friend die in train mishap near Old Goa

In a tragic train accident, a naval officer died after he was hit by a moving train while his friend's body was recovered from Mandovi river at Dhavji near Old Goa on Sunday. The incident occurred at night at around 12.30 am when the 27-year-old Naval Officer Rahul Kumar from Ranchi had gone for an outing to the railway bridge at Dhavji with his friends. Of the five friends, three had climbed the railway bridge. While on the bridge, Rahul was hit by the Matsya Gandha Express train running from Karmali to Margao. Maumini Ganguly,27, from Kolkata who was also on the other side of the bridge had gone missing since the incident. Her body was fished out from the Mandovi river by Naval divers after an extensive search operation this morning.
