Over 100 volunteers trained to combat third wave of Covid

The State is preparing in advance for the anticipated third wave in covid, and as a step towards it, the district training programme for BJP mandal volunteers was conducted at Gomantak Maratha Samaj hall in Panaji where 125 volunteers were trained. These volunteers will train more in the coming days and in case the third wave hits the State, a total of 3500 volunteers would be on the field to control the pandemic. The training session was attended by BJP Goa State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade, health minister, Dr Shekhar Salkar, in-charge of National Health Volunteers Campaign, Dr Vinod Verekar, Dr Sonia Kanekar, Siddharth Kunkolienkar and Dr Sneha Bhagwat. “It will be a massive group of 3500 volunteers trained to control the third wave, if it comes. The government will extend its full support to make the campaign better and effective," stated health minister Vishwajit Rane on the occasion. The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant gave the concluding speech and thanked the participants.

PANAJI In an All-India Konkani Poetry competition organised by Arth Prakashan, Anjali Kini, a poetess from Kerala bagged the first prize for her poem 'Choi re savanya'. The second prize went to Gaurang Bhandiye's poem 'Ek vasin swatantrayeche' and the third prize was pocketed by Vishal Khandeparkar from Goa for his poem, 'Devcharan gaon sodala'.
