The Tourism Department, Government of Goa appointed Karnataka Commercial and Industrial Corporation Pvt Ltd, (KCIC), as the beach cleaning contractor. KCIC has its headquarters in Bengaluru, Karnataka and its branch office is located at Patto, Panjim, Goa. KCIC has been entrusted with the task of cleaning a total of 37 major beaches of Goa, ie 16 major beaches of North Goa and 21 major beaches of South Goa.
KCIC commenced its beach cleaning operations in Goa from October 1, 2019. Garbage is collected on a daily basis from the beaches, segregated and then transported to the Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) at Saligao for final disposal. Since the beginning of the contract till date, KCIC has collected, segregated, transported and disposed off 10,59,482 kg of dry garbage, 8,20,530 kg of wet garbage and 5,89,240 kg of tree waste. KCIC has also voluntarily participated in many cleaning drives, in association with other organisations, etc.
