Sahitya Akademi Translation Awards announced

PANAJISahitya Akademi on Thursday announced the translation awards for 2022 in Hindi, Maithili and Konkani languages. Representative stories of Kashmiri translated by Gaurishankar Raina for Hindi translation, English novel Azadi translated by Ratneshwar Mishra for Maithili and the award has been announced for the Bengali book Sri Ramakrishna Amritvani translated by Manikrao Ram Naik Gavnekar for Konkani. The books have been selected by a three-member jury following the prescribed selection process. According to the rules, the awards have been announced on the basis of consensus of the judges in Hindi and Konkani and majority in Maithili. Members of the jury, who recommended the award, are- Prof. for Hindi A Arvindakshan, Sudarshan Vashisht and Prof. Dr Sabita Jha Soni, Dr Mitranath Jha and Neerja Renu for Maithili and Ramesh Babai Komarpant, Dr G for Konkani, Sandhya Nayak and Prof. (Dr) SM Tadkodkar. As a reward, an engraved copper plaque and an amount of Rs 50,000 will be given to the awarded translator in a special function next year.
