MARGAO: A triple strike from Asfin Pinto enabled Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim trounce Velsao Sports and Cultural Club 8-1 in the GFA First Division League match, at Cansaulim Stadium, on Thursday.
The match embarked on a fast pace as both outfits tried to unsettle their fellow opponents in the first minutes of the match.Velsao rocked the citadel in the eighth minute when Deepak Kadam scored. Attacks by the Cavelossim attackers especially Asfin Pinto kept the rival defenders on their toes throughout. Asfin Pinto equalized in the 13th minute. Three minutes later, Asfin Pinto struck again to register his brace Maven Fernandes scored a brace in the 36th and 45+2 minutes.
After the change over, Santa Cruz continued in same vein and Norman Dias added his name on the scorerlist in the 55th minute. Subsitute Semson Fernandes put the issue beyond doubt in the 78th minute while Dezlan Passana fired the last nail in the 85th minute.
At Rosary ground, Navelim, Youth Club of Manora defeated Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club 2-1.
Rhay Joseph gave Manora the lead in the 20th minute while Aryan Colaco cancelled the lead just before half time. Bhaskar Roy struck the match winner in the 57th minute.
