MARGAO: Shannon Veterans blanked Black Arrow Veterans 2-0 to earn a spot in the semifinals of the All Goa Late Clement Memorial Veterans football tournament, organised by Youth of Fatrade, at Varca ground, on Thursday.
The match began with both teams exhibiting a fast-paced and evenly matched performance, displaying disciplined defense and midfield control in the first half. Former East Bengal captain and international player Alvito D’cunha showcased flashes of his skill. The second half saw Shannon Veterans dominating and Alvito D’cunha finally scoring in the 35th minute by lobbing the ball over black arrow goalkeeper Anand. Black Arrow Veterans moved their team forward looking for equaliser and taking this advantage Ricardo Carvalho scored the second goal and eventually sealing the win with a goal in the dying minutes, securing a 2-0 victory over Black Arrow Veterans. Despite Black Arrow Veterans' efforts to equalise, Shannon's dominance prevailed, leaving an exciting match with decisive late drama. The semi finals will be played on April 1 and 2.
