A cleanliness drive was organized by the NSS unit of St Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa on the October 18. This drive was held in accordance with Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav - Clean India Programme by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of India. The cleanliness activity began sharp at 8.30 am at the Yard of Mapusa Municipal Market. The programme commenced with a brief welcome address by Dr Elvis Gonsalves, Principal of St Xavier’s Higher Secondary School. The Chief Guest of the programme was Mapusa MLA, Joshua D’Souza, the Guest of Honour was Shubhangi Vaigankar. The teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution carried out this cleanliness awareness activity of collecting single use plastic and other waste items from Mapusa Municipal Market (Yard). The waste was efficiently collected and segregated.
