The Vikas panel on Sunday won eight of the nine posts to the board of directors at the Sattari Taluka Farmers Society (STFS), while the Progressive panel could win only one post. A total of 18 candidates were in the fray to the post of 9 directors at STFS and the main contest was between the Vikas panel and the Progressive panel.The candidates of Vikas panel who emerged victorious were Pandurang Gawas, Sitaram Desai, Anil Katkar, Shahaji Desai, Sagun Wadkar, Suranga Naik, Narayan Gaonkar and Pradeep Gawandalkar, while Ganpat Gaonkar was the lone winning candidate from the Progressive panel.
Later speaking to reporters, Pandurang Gawas of the Vikas panel their victory was the acknowledgment of their work in the last five years. “Emphasis will be to fulfil all assurances in our manifesto within the next five years. We will develop this society by bringing together all voters and active members,” he said. Elections were conducted under the guidance of Returning Officer Pankaj Marathe and Assistant Officer Satish Sawant.
