Tobacco products seized at Polem border

Canacona police seized tobacco products worth Rs 42 lakh at the Polem border check post, while they were illegally being transported to Karnataka.

According to police, the tobacco products in different brands were transported into Karnataka in a Karnataka-registered vehicle. Acting on information, the vehicle was detained at the Polem checkpost and was found illegally transporting 170 bags of pan masala worth Rs 32,90,282 and 34 bags of scented chewing tobacco worth Rs 9,09,626, informed Canacona PI Pravin Gawas. An offence has been registered and IO Ramchandra Naik is investigating the case under the guidance of PI Gawas.
