Trade ties discussed between India-Netherlands

A team led by Thierry Van Helden, Deputy Consul General, Saurabh Sangle, Senior Consular Officer, Dane Van Hemert called on Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) president Ralph de Sousa on Tuesday the GCCI office in Panaji. Ralph de Sousa gave a brief background on GCCI activities and the business scenario in Goa. Goa has been exporting horticulture products like Casava, Goan okra, Averrtoa (Bimbli) to Netherlands. GCCI will be signing an MOU with HAS University, Netherlands for promotion of agriculture in both the countries. A team of Dutch students are already in Goa and are undergoing training for the same. Diamond and jewellery are the main business areas in which both the countries have interest. Netherlands has been a top trading partner of India in Europe with FDI of 4.6 billion US dollars last year, importing tea, coffee, spices and essential oils. Netherlands would be interested in providing technical expertise and innovation in the fields of waste management, climate change and SDGs. The Deputy Consul General offered to support the start-up industry. He also gave a brief of the Visa process. The director general, Sanjay Amonkar briefed on technology based start-up incubators at BITS Pilani on medical engineering research and semiconductors.
