The office of the Governor of Goa in collaboration with the Department of Forests celebrated Van Mahotsav’ at Raj Bhavan Donapaula on Tuesday. The Governor PS Sreedharan and his spouse Adv Rita Sreedharan planted saplings of amla (Indian Gooseberry ) and saplings of mango respectively. While Secretary to Governor R. Mihir Vardhan, IAS planted sapling of jackfruit .
The Governor also released a book titled Aushadh Vatika on the occasion.
Mihir Vardhan informed that the Raj Bhavan in collaboration with the Department of Forests is committed to maintain the ecosystem of the surrounding areas. The initiative to plant various plants of trees is a step towards restoring the vegetation at Raj Bhavan. Raj Bhavan has planned to plant around 500 number of trees to restore the plantation destroyed in the recent monsoon. Besides, there are some projects in pipeline which will enhance scenic beauty to attract more and more tourists towards Raj Bhavan, he added. ADC to Governor Vishram Borkar, Santosh Kumar IFS, CCF, Keshav Kumar IFS,DCF, Yashoda A.T (R&U), ACF DM Kudalkar, staff of Forest Department and Raj Bhavan were among those who attended the function. DCF Pee Lee ( Social Forestry IFS) was the coordinator of the function.
