Aparna Parab was elected unopposed as sarpanch of Virnoda panchayat on Tuesday.
The post had fallen vacant following the resignation of Mangaldas Kinlekar as sarpanch.
Parab was the only candidate to file her nomination and was elected unopposed.
Six of the seven panchas, Varsha Parab, Mangaldas Kinlekar, Prashant Rao, Anupa Kambli, Bharat Gaude and Aparna Parab were present at the meeting while Shailendra Parab was absent.
Krishna Gadekar presided as election officer and was assisted by panchayat secretary Rupesh Calangutkar.
MGP leaders Praveen Arlekar and Jeet Arolkar later congratulated the new sarpanch at the panchayat office.
