The International Women’s Day was celebrated by the St Michael parish, Taleigao, with an evening programme at the St Michael Church hall. About 100 women participated in the event which was coordinated by Jennifer Ferrao under the guidance of parish priest Fr Cipriano Da Silva. The highlight of the event was a talk on “Cancer awareness and prevention” by Dr Lynette Fernandes, “Gender equality today for sustainable tomorrow” by Tina Costa, a deknni performance and a fashion show on empowerment of women, both scripted and trained by Luiza Luis, a hip-hop dance by parish youth, and medley dance trained by Gracelyn. The crowd was entertained by a band of parish girls consisting of Gracelyn, Sarah, Leanne, and Natsalene. The programme was compered by Nishita Magalhaes. The event ended with a fellowship dinner.
