Workplace stress is on the rise which results in burn out among employees. Taking into consideration the urgent need in this aspect the Non Communicable Disease Cell (NCDC), Directorate of Health Services (DHS) Campal under the active initiative of Dr Rupa Naik, Dr Kedar Raiker and Dr Chaitali Manerkar and actively supported by Director, Directorate of Health Services Dr Ira Almeida organised a State-level one-day workshop for the health officers across the State of Goa heading different health centers as well as from both the district hospitals on “Enhancing Emotional Intelligence:Creating a work life balance” at Mercure Devaaya Resort at Diwar Island.
Prof Vithoba Narayan Mhalkar, assistant professor at Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour and a certified emotional intelligence coach was the trainer and facilitator of the programme. Professor Mhalkar dealt with understanding emotions and emotional intelligence, building optimism, maintaining relationships, working on self-awareness and stress management in this one-day training. 64 health officers of different health centres of DHS participated in the workshop.
