PANAJI

Every year on March 21 and September 22, we hear of the ‘No Shadows at noon’ phenomena. On this day, the Sun is exactly overhead on the Equator at noon and no shadows are cast. On these days we have the equal days and nights all over the world, but on this day, the Zero-Shadow phenomenon is only experienced on the Equator.  People all over the world living between 23.5 degrees north and 23.5 degrees south latitudes; experience this when the Sun is on their meridian or local latitude at noon. On May 1, this will be experienced in South Goa at Margao and May 2, in North Goa at Panaji. The Association of Friends of Astronomy(Goa) has made elaborate arrangements at 2 Observatories for the same . On May 1, the event will be demonstrated at the Public Astronomical Observatory at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao and on May 2, the same can be experienced at the Public Astronomical Observatory at Junta house in Panaji.
