The embattled President of the Comunidade Fraternal de Aldona Rosario Fernandes on Sunday said the order passed by the government in dismissing the managing committee of the comunidade was bad in law, untenable and politically motivated which will be challenged before the appropriate authority.
“The Administrator of Communidades of North Zone has passed the order on the basis of the direction of the government. We have committed no wrong. This action is clearly politically motivated as can be seen from the order of the administrator,” Fernandes said.
The president and the attorney of the Comunidade Fraternal de Aldona were dismissed by the administrator while the managing committee was dissolved for not acting against illegalities and failing to defend the interest of the comunidade.
Fernandes said they will be challenging the orders dismissing them and soon file a petition before the appropriate forum.
“We have already discussed with our lawyers. We are confident of being vindicated in the quest for justice. We have full faith in the judiciary,” he said.
He also requested the public not to believe the persons who have been making unsavoury comments against him and his managing committee.
“We do not wish to make any further comment at this stage. But we request you all not to get influenced by statements made by various persons attempting to tarnish our good names. Thank you all for your co-operation and understanding,” Fernandes said in a statement released here.
A group of gaunkars of the Comunidade Fraternal de Aldona led by Constantino Chagas Carvalho had complained before the Administrator of Communidades of North Zone accusing the managing committee of acting in a high-handed manner and misusing their position.
The gaunkars in a press conference on Saturday had also said that local MLA Glenn Ticlo was instrumental to help them to resolve the comunidade issue.
