OLD GOA
Goa Forward party organized a tour of the St Andre constituency, on Sunday, to understand the problems faced by the people ahead of the Assembly elections.
Present for the tour were president Vijay Sardessai, working president Kiran Kandolkar, organizing secretary Durgadas Kamat, St Andre leader Jagdish Bhobe and others.
Before starting the tour, the leaders took the blessings at the Shri Chamundeshwari Temple at Sula Bhat-Agassaim, Masjidus Salam-Pilar and St Lawrence Church-Agassaim.
Speaking to the media, Sardessai took a dig at the BJP’s tours of the State where he said they were felicitating themselves.
“This tour is not organized for felicitation of ourselves unlike the BJP tours where the State BJP president and chief minister are felicitating themselves wherever they go,” Sardessai informed.
“We want to know the problems of the people and prepare a constituency-centric manifesto. We are here to understand what the people want. Under the leadership of Jagdish Bhobe, the youth are working towards this goal,” he added
“Around the Chamundeshwari temple area we have come to know that the people do not have toilets thereby exposing the BJP government’s ODF claims. The person who jumped from Congress to BJP did so for his own development which is the reason why people of St Andre constituency are still lacking basic facilities like toilets.
“In St Andre, people are migrating to UK in hordes as the government has failed to provide them employment opportunities. This shows complete failure of the BJP government.
“The old generation is living here but they too do not enjoy any facilities. This place should have been a mine for football, art and culture. That too has not happened. But, we are committed to give the people a constituency-centric manifesto,” Sardessai stated.
