‘Govt trying to push Mapusa TCP scheme for builders’
Farmers vow to fight arrogant govt’s diabolical move to convert land

Farmers associated with the Shree Bodgeshwar Shetkari Sangh have condemned the government for not taking them into confidence while formulating the TCP Scheme to develop Mapusa.
They also decried the North Goa Planning and Development Authority Chairman, Michael Lobo’s statement that there was no opposition of any farmers towards the scheme.
“Whenever we approach the government authorities either NGPDA or the TCP, none have been able to guide us on the new TCP scheme,” said Sanjay Barde, president of Shree Bodgeshwar Shetkari Sangh.
“This government seems to be working on the sly and we fear one fine day they will come out with the scheme and force it down our throats,” Barde added.
He said the farming community of Mapusa are all together on the issue and will not allow the arrogant government’s diabolical move to convert the land, to succeed.
“I don’t understand why the local MLA from Mapusa is not making a single statement on the new scheme. Why is a legislator of neighbouring constituency speaking about the scheme concerning Mapusa,” he further questioned.
He further disclosed that the government was in league with the builder lobby and therefore trying to push the scheme through.
“This scheme is not going to benefit any of us. It’s being prepared with the builder’s lobby in mind,” Barde said and vowed to fight any government against the scheme.
He said the farmers were opposed to the government plan to allot only 33 per cent of land to stakeholders as per the scheme and added that the farmers will not be satisfied with anything less than 60 per cent of the land share.
Barde also called on the government to take at least two of its members on the committee that is formulating the scheme.
