‘Manpower from local villages will be used during construction’

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar informed the House that once the construction starts, the government, through Civil Aviation, will appoint a team which will monitor all activities including training, finding and linking local persons for various jobs.

"GMR, along with Goa University, has already carried out survey of the availability of manpower in the local villages. In the six villages they have mapped out the manpower which could be available. We already have the data," he said.
Parrikar said the areas around the airport exploited by locals to set up their commercial establishments, may it be hotels and restaurants. He also informed that the moment construction of the airport starts, ITI Pernem will be upgraded to provide necessary training to
the youth.
