Almost all the flats in three buildings meant for low income group at the Colvale Housing Board has reported extensive leakage in bathrooms and damp walls.
"It's almost a year now we have been staying here. But within 20 days of entering the flat we had to face issues of leakages in bathroom," said Vijai Saraf, a flat owner.
He said after registering a complaint, the Goa Housing Board officials visited the site and promised to attend to the fault.
He further said for eight months they refused to honour their promise and only when he gave a written complaint some work has been initiated now.
Raju Gaonkar, another flat owner in the same building, said he felt cheated and hoped the government will take action against engineers concerned.
"Most of us have taken loans from banks with a paying term of 20 years. Who will take responsibility for such shoddy work," asked Goankar.
He said although leakage in bathrooms was the main problem, there were other problems like sewerage overflow and broken pipes at the site.
"I appeal to the chief minister and the housing minister to investigate into the matter and take action against officials responsible for such substandard work," Goankar said.
He said complaints were made to housing board MD, but the officials concerned dragged their feet and refused to quickly act in the matter.
