CANACONA
Raising concerns after a news report appeared on The Goan on Sunday that stray cattle is posing a threat along the Canacona highway, GOACAN wrote to the Canacona Mamlatdar.
"The report clearly shows that besides the cattle endangering their lives, they also pose a grave threat to drivers and two-wheeler riders. This means that it is an issue of road safety," stated GOACAN in the letter.
"We urge the Canacona Mamlatdar to convene an urgent meeting of agencies like Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, traffic police, PWD, Block Development Officer and the CMC to address the issues that need attention and thereby prevent any loss of life that may occur," stated the letter signed by GOACAN coordinator Roland Martins.
Taking cognizance of the GOACAN letter, Canacona Mamlatdar Ramesh N Gaonkar wrote to the CMC chief officer and BDO Canacona by attaching GOACAN letter and The Goan report and sought their compliance report.
