‘Govt all set to shamelessly emulate Bihar govt’s feat of firing on unarmed civilians’

MARGAO
Congress MLA Reginaldo Lourenco on Thursday said the Goa government is all set to shamelessly emulate its Bihar BJP-run government’s  recent infamous feat of General Dyer-type of firing on unarmed civilians.

He appealed to the Central and the State government that the SWR Hospet-Hubbali“Tinaighat-Vasco double-tracking project in Goa must be scrapped in to-to, saying Goemkars will bless them abundantly if they do away with the double-tracking in Goa.

“Despite all out opposition by the people of Goa to the proposed double-tracking of South Western Railway (SWR) line from Hospet-Hubbali“Tinaighat-Vasco, it seems neither the Central government nor our State government is willing to listen to Goemkars and rescind the ruinous project for good and these stubborn authorities are  blatantly  adamant to go ahead with the disastrous project,” he said, reminding that he had written numerous letters to the Union Railway Minister as well as Goa Chief Minister, but they just want to bulldoze this appalling project on the people of Goa.

Saying the double-tracking is part of the nefarious design to convert Goa into a coal hub and transportation corridor to benefit big corporates/big industrialists via Mormugao Port, he said the Sagarmala project, the setting up of jetties all across the State is done only with one motive to  facilitate the transport of coal from MPT to the thermal power stations and coke steel plants in Karnataka.

He said the BJP government in Goa in order to quell the protest of Goemkars is fool-hardy  by  taking a recent  mad  decision of providing police protection to SWR work.
