Head of Preventive and Social Medicine at GMC Dr Jagdish Cacodkar has said that the public must be made aware of various aspects of the third wave of Covid pandemic.
“The proportion of children and adolescents is likely to increase depending on the virulence and infectivity of the organism, on whether schools reopen or not, the complacency of people and neglect of symptoms which overlap with other ailments among the factors,” he said adding that the State presently has around 206 hotspots scattered across its rural and urban areas.
GMC Dean Dr S M Bandekar also said that although the expert committee did not discuss the re-opening of schools, the subject is likely to be taken up over the coming days.
